Faceted Search
Many websites now offer Facets as a way of navigating search results: a Facet might be a price, an author or a supplier. A key feature is that only relevant facets are shown for each search – 'author' is important when searching books, but 'colour' less so.
Faceted Search allows the user to narrow down what might be tens of thousands of results to give a more exact answer to their query. Some examples of faceted navigation are available at Peter Morville's Flickr collection of search patterns.
Facets are just one example of the powerful user interface features Flax offers: these also include auto-completion of typed queries, sorting by numerical values such as price or geographical location and relevance feedback. Contact us and we can suggest the most useful ways of searching your data.
